Facilities.
Outside there is a substantial garden containing a modern swimming pool with patio area for sunbathing etc. The swimming pool has a telescopic cover which keeps the pool warm and useable in inclement weather. There is a patio area overlooking the swimming pool with table and chairs ideal for breakfast and morning activities.
In the front of the chateau there is a further patio which enjoys the afternoon and evening sunshine,
There is a table tennis table, boules sets and a badminton set. There are four mountain bikes available for use.
There are tennis courts available for use next to the children’s playground. Both are sited by the lake in the village.
Also available locally is canoeing, gliding and hang-gliding.
There are many fine walking areas locally. The Cathar walk runs close by taking you through the magnificent Gorges de Frau to the historic mountain-top Cathar castle of Montségur. Enjoy the unspoilt scenery of the Pays de Sault plateau free of chemicals! From here, you can reach the breathtaking views of the high Pyrenees and the pleasures of such towns as Mirepoix (picturesque bastide market town) and Limoux as well as, the many Cathar castle sites and the mysterious Rennes le Château.
Most of these are equally accessible by mountain bike. More bikes can be made available for hire.
Shopping.
Shopping couldn’t be easier. The bakery, the butchers and a small supermarket are all within yards of the house. The Doctor, Vet and Emergency services are also within walking distance.
For more extensive shopping supermarkets are to be found in the local towns of Quillan, Lavalanet and Ax les Thermes. There are local markets in Quillan (Saturday), Lavalanet (Friday) and Mirepoix (Monday).
